At the CBCC¡¯s invitation, Mr. Weilie LOU, Director of the Secretariat of the Organizing Committee of APEC SME Technology Conference and Fair and Vice Director General of Bureau of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of Qingdao Municipal Government, and Mr. Hongdong FEI , Project Manager of the Secretariat, visited Toronto and held talks with the CBCC October 8-11, 2005. The two sides reached an agreement on the CBCC¡¯s role as organizer for SME Team Canada to attend the 4th APEC SME Conference & Fair to be held in Qingdao China May 18-21, 2006.
The CBCC invites Canadian Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SME) to join the 2006 SME Canada Trade Mission to China for the 4th APEC SME Conference & Fair.

The Fair is held very two years in Qingdao, China (introduction of the city below), and the 4th APEC SME Conference & Fair will be held May 18 through 21, 2006.
Participants, Exhibitors, and Visitors
Enterprises of all sizes including manufacturers, importers & exporters, research companies, industry associations, wholesalers, retailers, and agents from China¡¯s most provinces and from APEC (Asian Pacific Economic Co-operation) countries and regions, which include Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, P. R. China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Taipei, Thailand, United States, and Vietnam.
Delegations of Chinese provinces are normally led by their Governors or Vice Governors.

Goals and Programs
In order to promote technological advancement in the small and medium sized enterprises and to promote international trade and investment in APEC entities, the Fair has programs including trade shows, technology conferences, trade and financial forums, news conferences, business matching meetings, seminars and so on.
Trade show sections will include auto and parts, machinery, building products, environmental and energy saving products, electronics and parts, textiles and equipment, food processing, arts and crafts.

About the City of Qingdao
Qingdao is located in China¡¯s east coast in the Province of Shandong and is the second largest port city of the country, with a population of over 7 million.
